These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to KANJI de NAME (kanjidename.com), including the free kanji name generator and all paid products (“Service”), operated by HOSHILABO Inc. (“we”, “us”). By using the Service or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Free generator — automatic kanji suggestions based on how your name sounds. Results are drafts for inspiration and are not checked by a person.
KANJI ESSENCE ($35) — a Japanese native checks the kanji you chose. You receive it in a Mincho typeface as a PDF and a transparent PNG. Delivered within 48 hours.
KANJI ARTISAN ($65) — a Japanese native checks the kanji you chose, and we write it in a brush-style font, with the meaning of each kanji and a personal cover letter, as a PDF and a transparent PNG. Delivered within 3 days.
KANJI MASTER (from $180) — a hand-written artwork by our artist. Waitlist only.

Delivery times start when payment is confirmed. All files are delivered by email to the address you enter at checkout.

2. Orders and payment

Prices are in US dollars and are paid in full at checkout by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
A contract is formed when your payment is completed and you receive our order confirmation email.
Please check the spelling of your name, its pronunciation and your email address before you pay.

3. Revisions, cancellations and refunds

One free revision is included with every order. Reply to your delivery email within 14 days to request it.
Full refund before we start: you may cancel and receive a full refund until we begin working on your order. Reply to your order confirmation email.
Once work has started or files have been delivered, orders are non-refundable because they are custom digital products. If we cannot deliver within the stated time, you may request a full refund.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method.

4. Use of the files

You may use the delivered files for personal purposes, such as prints, frames and gifts. Commercial use (for example, selling products bearing the design) requires our prior written permission. The original designs and typeface work remain the property of HOSHILABO Inc. or their rights holders.

5. Important uses

Kanji can carry different nuances depending on context. Paid orders are checked by a Japanese native, but the decision to use a design permanently or publicly (for example, as a tattoo or on signage) is yours, and we are not responsible for such use or its results.

6. Prohibited conduct

Violating laws or public order
Infringing intellectual property rights
Interfering with the operation of the Service
Submitting false information or impersonating others

7. Disclaimer

The free generator is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.

8. Personal information

We handle personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The version shown on this page at the time of your order applies to that order.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Osaka District Court in the first instance.
